Stephen founded STS Performance Horses in 1999 after years of equestrian showing and training that included completing an apprenticeship at Summerwind Farms in Damascus, Maryland, for renowned trainer Dutch Chapman. Dutch has produced more world championship horses and riders than anyone else in the NRHA. Stephen also spent years as the assistant trainer to Rick Weaver, a well known trainer in the reining world. Rick is well known for his successful NRHA career as well as an NRHA judge and committee member. Clients know that
Stephen’s horse and riding knowledge combined with his unique understanding of what it takes to show with confidence brings home winning results.

Stephen is a certified, accredited Level 4 instructor with the Canadian Equestrian Federation and has been a registered NRHA trainer since 1988. Stephen is a World Champion rider that has trained numerous NRHA futurity finalists and winners, NRHA ancillary class winners – both horses and Non-Pro World Champions. Stephen was a finalist for the United States Equestrian Team (USET) and was named NRHA Top 20 Professional Rider 2004.

Most recently, Stephen was 2009 NRHA Futurity Limited Open Futurity Finalist riding Hickador and was the #2 rider on the USEF list going into the Battle in the Saddle for the pick for Team USA.
